Saddle Repair

When I repair a saddle, I treat it like I’m working on a partner you rely on every day, not just a piece of equipment. Each saddle comes apart in stages so I can inspect the tree, leather, stitching, and hardware before I even start the actual repair work. This helps catch hidden cracks, weak spots, or dry rot that could turn into a safety issue later.

From there, I match leather weight, color, and temper as closely as possible so the repaired area blends in and wears the same as the rest of the saddle. Edges are shaped and finished by hand, and all stitching is done with strength and longevity in mind—whether that’s by hand with an awl and thread or with a heavy-duty machine, depending on the job. Finally, I clean, condition, and check the saddle again under tension so it’s not just “fixed,” but ready to go back to work safely and comfortably for both horse and rider.
